Just over 5 years. That’s how long it took. Scouring Auto Trader, Kijiji, Google, everywhere in the western hemisphere…and finally, we found it! This is only the second Porsche 997 C2 GTS 6-speed we have ever had in inventory, and we couldn’t be happier.

Nothing is more satisfying than selling cars you love yourself. We try to do that as much as possible at Pfaff Reserve and this Speed Yellow, Toronto-delivered GTS is definitely a car we love!

GTS stands for Gran Turismo Sport, and made its first Porsche appearance in the early 60’s on the 904. Fast-forward to the 80s, and you’d find it on the ever-so-rare 924 Carrera GTS, and then the mighty 928 GTS – also a car we love. Things would go quiet for another 23 years until the GTS moniker was brought back from the bench with the 2008 Cayenne GTS – another car we love.
In 2011, Porsche would bring back the GTS designation for good – and this time spanning the entire model line. Of course, the most exciting GTS would always be the 911 – and if it were a 911, wouldn’t the best be a 997 generation?

Let’s be honest: the 997 is quickly becoming the most sought-after modern 911. It’s modern, small, very good looking and highly capable! Agree? Of course you do!

997 GTSs are as rare as they come, so when this beautiful Speed Yellow C2 GTS came my way, there was no question it was coming home with us. It took five years to find one, and what better than a rear-wheel drive, manual transmission, single-ownership, and bone-stock example. I felt like I really accomplished something when we finally got our hands on it. The search continues for more!

But enough about the rarity. Bottom line, the car is sensational. Taking it home was just what the doctor ordered after I sold my 996 Turbo S.

Strap on the dealer plate and take in the details. It really is a trick car, with beautiful center-lock mesh wheels, wide fenders, sport design bodywork, and finally those intricate exhaust pipes. This is a true sports car!

Take a seat inside, and you are wrapped in a handsome interior, feeling the sportiness through the alcantara shifter and steering wheel. Turn the key, and the 3.8-litre flat-six sounds like a precise piece of machinery. Not aggressive, but fine and precise. Press the sport exhaust button and hear it switch to a more noticeable, yet still civilized flat 6 tone. Just enough.

Set down the highway, and the X51's 413-hp mill is energetic and alive. It’s definitely engineered to offer great performance with minimal flex. That has to be one of the finest attributes of the GTS – everything seems kind of effortless, everything is satisfying, but it’s not trying too hard and very honest about its ways.

Deeper in the city, I went by my house where renovations are still underway. The GTS is compliant with the suspension in its comfort setting. Zipping through the city was fun and anxiety-free as the car just isn’t that loud. She tucks in and out, goes fast, stops fast, and all while you're handling that beautiful six-speed gearbox. The GTS is a truly sensational and spirited drive.
As I stopped to grab a few snaps of my drive (forgive me as I got caught in the rain), I couldn't help but feel that I was driving something that was incredibly well thought out. Specifically the spec of this car.  Speed Yellow is complimented by all the black accents from the wheels to the decals and the rear valence. True sports car fashion is seen everywhere around the GTS – and of course, this one is rear-wheel drive to boot!

Package cars are great, and when Porsche does it, even better! The GTS is a livable and loveable combination and a modest one at the same time. One to really fall in love with for that long-term relationship. It has to be, as most all are already taken. Plenty of fish in the sea does not apply here; book a road test and quickly be ready to get on one knee.
